The first three months of 2013 have seemingly flown by and it’s April already. Spring… rebirth, rejuvenation, everything’s blooming, all that jazz. Last year at this time, pretty much to the day, Erin and I were in the process of moving into the new house while I was finishing up on the “In 4 the Evening” album. It was true chaos and insanity during those days in the way moving always tend to be. Happy 1-year Anniversary, la Casa NoV.
This year, things are a bit more settled as I’m putting finishing touches on the 3rd album, “Another Day in Paradox.” 13 songs this time, over an hour’s worth of ‘toons.’ The album will go to mastering on the 18th of this month; Brian Hazard will once again be doing the honors at Resonance Mastering in California – thanks Brian!
So it’s a good time to get a first look at the cover artwork for the album…
The photograph was taken by Rob Hurst who also lives here in Colorado; it’s a shot of the Speer Blvd. Tunnel in Denver as it passes under Broadway and Lincoln Streets. Movement, mobility – as well as the paradoxical – is also a big theme on this album and I like this shot as a representation of that (for those wondering about the pink dinosaur, yes, it will be in the artwork package, on the CD itself).
Album particulars: “Another Day in Paradox” is scheduled to be released officially on June 7th now on both CDs and as a digital download MP3 album (yet another Gemini album… when will I ever learn?). Look for a couple of advance tracks – “Sundown at El Farol” and “Vanishing America” – to be released at the end of this month and available as free downloads. And the album will be available pre-release date sometime in May for friends/fans of Nights on Venus through Bandcamp and the NoV website on both CDs and in digital format.
And the Nights on Venus “juggernaut” rolls on…
Notable albums this week: Todd Rundgren‘s long-awaited new album, “STATE,” comes out in a couple of days on April 9th. Very much looking forward to hearing Todd’s musical explorations into electronic dance music (EDM) and hope to have a review on the album next time. Be sure to catch him this spring and summer on his Official State Visit Tour In Europe and the U.S. See http://www.toddstore.com/ for dates.
“In 4 the Evening” is the second and current album from Nights on Venus and is available as a digital download on CDBaby, iTunes, Amazon.mp3, Bandcamp and other fine online retailers. On CD through the NoV website. “Another Day in Paradox,” the new album, will be released on June 7, 2013.
